It's pretty crazy that we live in a time where you can literally go online, and with a few clicks you can be roaming around a virtual map as if you were driving down that road. This is exactly what led me to this spot, which was just by going on Google Maps, looking at the satellite overview, and zooming in on random places. After about 10 minutes, I discovered this spot and was curious to check it out. So I did!
I'll be honest, there isn't really anything fancy about this spot, in fact it was a little bit difficult to find angles that I thoroughly enjoyed. That being said, it did offer a decent background, plenty of space, and unobstructed photos. Not one car passed by, so I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing anyone.
At a car meet earlier this year, I bumped into a fellow car photographer who's work I have looked up to. I ended up asking him what he thought was the best way to get better at taking car photos. He said, "It's simple. Do you have a car? I drive a Hyundai Elantra - it's nothing fancy, but I take photos of it everyday."
This information right there was something I had to hear, and I am so glad I used it. My Audi A4 is no R8 - shit, the thing is bone stock other than my license plate relocation kit. My promise to myself is to continue to shoot my car in order to learn more about photography itself, and becoming better this way.
Something I hadn't tried before is shooting cars in front of graffiti. This was a good experience for me because I got to work with other colours in the background which I normally wouldn't get the opportunity to.
Sometimes I tend to focus too much on just the front end of the car, as opposed to the rear. I'm really glad I got these shots as they were some of my favourites.
