By far one of the most epic photoshoots I have had the opportunity to take part in was this one with a Liberty Walk Aventador on a shut down stretch of highway in the Oshawa area - about 40 minutes east of Toronto.
You don't even have to be inside the Aventador to know how great of an experience it is to drive a V12 machine. Just the simplest acceleration and you can hear the V12 engine start to scream with power, followed by a small burst of flames as you let off the gas.
Before I started shooting for Cars Without Limits, I had actually watched the video they did featuring his car on the CWL YouTube channel. I remember checking out Shahaan's IG page and just being amazed by this car. Never did I really think I would one day be shooting photos of it - especially on a closed off highway.
One of the biggest challenges I faced as a photographer was adapting to the lighting situation in this area. I believe all of my photos were shot at a high ISO, somewhere around 1600 which was a bit higher than I would have liked. When you're shooting at an ISO of above 500, you're going to get grainy photos and it can be tricky to save the photo from being completely washed out in post production.
An unsuspecting great car for rollers has to be the 2019 Ford Expedition we rolled in with. The trunk lid has the option of opening just the glass part, which adds a safe barrier between you and the unforgiving road. What did become a bit difficult was trying to get any good photos out of it however because of the setting.
On a bright sunny day, you can take hundreds of rolling shots at a continous shutter and end up with only a few good photos at the end, so trying to take photos that were in focus, exposed correctly, and composed nicely was quite the challenge. I was able to snap a few that I was happy with, but man was it stressful!
